MOI Christmas 2015

There are no official holiday functions on the MOI. Word has it that the Director is Jewish—though he also doesn't seem like the holiday-function-funding kind of guy. Nevertheless, when Christmas arrives it's clear someone has taken it upon themselves to make sure Christmas happened. Most of the decor is in the common room and living quarters—a wreath hangs next to the hatch that leads to the common room and garland is strung across the edge of the ceiling. Three sprigs of mistletoe are hung conspicuously—at the entrance to the section of the ship that housed the living quarters, above the couch in the common room, and at the entrance of the mess. Cookies and candies are laid out on the counter in the common room. And someone seems to have started a playlist of holiday movies on the common room media console—right now the holiday classic Die Hard is playing.

Though there was no special meal served or time off given, this seems to be enough to set the tone for the Freelancers on the MOI.

[Now seemed as good a time as any to break out some of the whiskey she'd smuggled in after their last leave. It's tucked away, but if you know her (or if you smell it on her later in the evening) she might give you a nip. She grabs a few cookies to munch on, then hangs out near the mistletoe until the movie starts.

Because fuck if she's going to miss Die Hard.]

[ He's not at all ceremonious about this. He knows she's got that whiskey on her and he intends to get his fair share.

He flops down on the couch next to her, holding his hand up. ]

Gimme some.

[He's about the only person that can get away with asking like that, and she hands it over after taking a swig herself.]

What, cocoa wasn't warming you up enough?

[bothbarrels]

Like I have to choose one or the other?

[ He takes a drink and hands the bottle back. ]

Too bad there's no eggnog to spike.

[i_got_this]

[She takes another sip and then caps it and stows it; this hadn't been cheap, and she wants to be sure she savors it.]

And spoil the taste? Blasphemy. [She gives him a wry grin.]

[bothbarrels]

[ He laughs. ]

Drink enough spiked eggnog and you won't care about the taste.

See, any other spiked drink that'd make sense. But eggnog? It's like an evil villain, it's so bad.

It's a moot point since there isn't any.

[ He sighs and settles further back into the couch cushions. ]

I didn't really try to get gifts for very many people. When there were no celebrations on the calendar it didn't seem like there would be a reason.

I was going to get gifts, but then fifteen year old single malt scotch happened.

[This really shouldn't be much of a surprise.]
