[ He and Delta have been on the run for a few years now- long enough for him to get used to it, long enough for him to grow resigned that maybe it's just them, maybe things didn't turn out exactly like he'd wanted. They're still alive, though, and he tells himself that's something. That's something to look forward to. For the longest time, it is. It's just the two of them, just he and Delta and every so often they stop on a planet for a longer period of time, just to get around, meet some people.

Delta insists on it, anymore, after watching York fall into a depressive slump, and he insists on them stopping every so often, on York getting real, human contact, going out to dinner, doing something to take care of himself.

It's how they hear rumors of people passing through the outskirts of town-- purple armor. York takes note of it, has Delta check the radios and the comms once they're holed up in a hotel for the week, and after getting an idea of where they might be, he goes looking, hopeful. ]

Fine. But if I don't like anything he does, we're leaving.

I wouldn't expect you to put up with that.

[ But he is pleased, and polishing off the rest of what's on his plate is satisfying as he has Theta relay the news to Delta. ]

Delta, North says we're all green! You guys can come back now.

[ York slips back in the room with coffee in hand, sipping it idly as he closes and locks the door. ]

So. What's the consensus?

We're staying. [ A fact she only begrudgingly admitted and wasn't willing to elaborate on. ]

[ He nods, affirming the news without showing any emotion. He's glad, but he doesn't intend to draw undue attention to that fact. He'd presented it to South as a practical decision and for now, that's all it would appear to be. ]

Hey, there's a relief. How long..?

[ Not long, he'd assume, but he doesn't push, doesn't try to make it something else. He just gives North and South a pleased, easy-going smile. ]

Couple days, if you'll have us.

And if you don't pull any stupid stunts.

Already offered long as you need.

[ He cuts South a tired look at that, but doesn't rise to the bait. ]

I appreciate that. It's very generous.

[ And two days is all they've been able to negotiate with South for. He has Theta send a small packet indicating as much, so that York doesn't press any more on that point.

He sets his plate aside and stretches. He truly wants a shower but letting South have first pick, should she desire, seems prudent. ]

Lexi, shower's up for grabs, if you want to go first. Otherwise I'm going to take it, if you don't mind, Sean.

[ That seemed to be a convenient way for them to talk alone, but she wanted a shower just as badly as he did and she got up with a slight grumble. ]

I'm going.

Watch the shower handle - it sticks a little so you gotta jimmy it.

[ Theta's message gets relayed, and York shoots the two of them a small smile in response, yawning as he moves to start cleaning up . ]

[ North gets up and automatically starts helping. He keeps the chatter idle until South disappears into the bathroom and closes the door. He waits to bring up the topic of money until he hears the shower start running. ]

I'm going to give you something to chip in for the two of us before we leave. Don't protest, because you're not going to convince me otherwise.

[ York opens his mouth to object- North shouldn't, he doesn't need to, he's got a way to keep himself afloat between jobs, damnit. But then, it's North. North's a decent guy, to a fault. ]

This is me protestin' just to say I did, though.

[ He reaches over and gives York one knock on the head, grinning. ]

Then consider that a lump on the head for doing it anyway.

[ York ducks, grabbing his hand and playfully aiming a faked-punch at his stomach, grinning. ]

Whatever, man, let me treat you guys once.

[ He feigns a blow of his own, then hangs back, grinning. ]

Once? I did. That was dinner.

Long-term once, smartass.

[ He reaches around, curling an arm around his shoulders, dragging him into a hug. ]

[ He chuckles and squeezes back just as tightly, ending the hug with a thump on York's back. ]

I've got to find some way to convince South that long-term will work.

[ Because this is truly refreshing, being able to joke around and not worry very minute about the stress of being on the run and of finding jobs to do and food to eat. He worries a lot about South, as any older brother would, and sometimes he goes without because of it. ]

[ B'aww, buddy. ]

...Yeah, not sure how to help with that one, I'm sorry.

[ He'd love it, but he's not sure South trusts him at all. She's never been one of his biggest fans, and they both know it. ]

No, no...I'm not expecting you to. It's all on her, really. She let me talk her into this much, at least.

[ York hesitates a moment, and swallows back what he wants to say, settling on something more PC. ]

Which reminds me. If you don't mind-- would be good to get one-on-one time to chat with you sometime.

[ He raises an eyebrow. He'd thought that was what they had been doing. ]

Something that's going to take more than a few minutes to talk about, I'm supposing.

[ York smiles thinly. ]

A few more, yeah.

[ He glances at the bathroom door. South's not liable to take a short, military-style shower under these circumstances. ]
