"No...you're going to do what you're going to do." If there's something he's learned by now it's that his sister has a mind of her own.

"Hey, you're learning," she jokes. "I wonder what other tricks I can teach you."

"I'm not an old dog yet, but I won't play fetch." He sets his bag in the front room and goes to settle in on the couch. Pretty soon he'll start dinner but it's a little early for that.

"How about rolling over?" She kicks her shoes off in the living room and sets her back down wherever. She's contemplating getting some homework done before her date, but for now she opts to sit on her end of the couch with her sketchbook.

He eyes her shoes but doesn't say anything. "I don't roll over either." Though he sort of was, when it came to his decision not to nag after she called him out on it.

"Yeah, sure you don't." She's sitting with her back to the armrest and her knees pulled up to rest her sketchbook against. "Just like how you're not going to nag me in a second about my shoes." Because yes, she caught you looking.

He rolled his eyes. "Put them away, then. Save me the trouble."

"When I'm done. I'm working on art homework." Which is code for she doesn't want to do her real homework, so she's drawing instead. It's a lot more fun.

[bothbarrels]

"What do they have you doing now?" He has no problem with her indulging that impulse, at least right now. No one wants to hop right to work after getting home from school.

"Family portraits, so don't move," she jokes and pretends to study his face for a moment before continuing her sketch.

He responds to that by making a ridiculous face, eyes crossed and tongue out.

She closes an eye and pretends as if she's trying to get a better look at him before kicking his foot lightly. "Yeah, you're going to look like a dumbass now."

"Not much of a change according to you."

[stackingthedeck]

"There's only so much artistic license I can take," she teases.

[bothbarrels]

"Just make sure to get my nose right."

[stackingthedeck]

"What nose?"

[bothbarrels]

"The giant tower in the middle of my face?" Yeah, he knows he has a big nose. He's kind of proud of it, actually.

[stackingthedeck]

"That's what that is? I thought it was a tumor."

[bothbarrels]

He snorts at that. "I walked right into that one."

[stackingthedeck]

"Well yeah. You can't see that much in front of you."

[bothbarrels]

He rolls his eyes, but there's a small smile on his face.

"Shouldn't you be working on your homework?" Oh how the tables have turned. Let her enjoy this moment for a second.

[bothbarrels]

"After I eat something." Which he isn't going to do just yet. Even the most conscientious student needed to take a little time to unwind upon getting home.

"You're always eating. Where do you put it all away?"

[bothbarrels]

"I stuff it in my cheeks," he says dryly. "Do you want me to fix you something too?" he adds as he rises and starts for the kitchen.
