[ He and Delta have been on the run for a few years now- long enough for him to get used to it, long enough for him to grow resigned that maybe it's just them, maybe things didn't turn out exactly like he'd wanted. They're still alive, though, and he tells himself that's something. That's something to look forward to. For the longest time, it is. It's just the two of them, just he and Delta and every so often they stop on a planet for a longer period of time, just to get around, meet some people.

Delta insists on it, anymore, after watching York fall into a depressive slump, and he insists on them stopping every so often, on York getting real, human contact, going out to dinner, doing something to take care of himself.

It's how they hear rumors of people passing through the outskirts of town-- purple armor. York takes note of it, has Delta check the radios and the comms once they're holed up in a hotel for the week, and after getting an idea of where they might be, he goes looking, hopeful. ]

You got anything you can't decide on, and we can get both and split it.

[ York's not a picky eater in the slightest- picking two meals and then just splitting them is the easiest option, truth be told. He lets North pick, letting him have the reign over the datapad, shrugging. ]

Wherever you order from- hotel or delivery, get me a soda, would you?

[ He grins and can't resist teasing York for giving him that kind of freedom. ]

You're asking for trouble with that.

[ Two entrees it was. He picked out a pasta dish, and another with grilled steak and peppers, along with two sodas, before passing it off to York so he could enter the payment information. ]

[ She elbowed her brother. ] Add a soda to mine.

Three sodas.

[ York snags the datapad, and glances up at her, curious, before his attention shifts to her. ]

You two want anything else?

[jackoftrumps]

[ He shakes his head, laughing. York is insisting on paying, but North is going to have to slip him some cash later. It just wouldn't be fair otherwise. He nudges his sister with his elbow. ]

What do you think, Lexi, you want some dessert?

[ She eyed York suspiciously. This was almost too good to be true and she was waiting for the catch. ] What do they have?

Dunno.

[ He puts in the payment information for them, and shrugs innocently at her look, feigning pure innocence. ]

Hey, it's just dessert, South.

[jackoftrumps]

[ Even if there is a catch North doesn't mind it too much. York was a friend and as such North was willing to help him out if he needs something. For now he's just going to keep trying to smooth everything over between the two. He shrugs as well. ]

We can figure it out later. we've got plenty of food coming for dinner.

Then why did he bother to offer? [ She snapped and was not too pleased with York's attitude. She directed her next words at her brother. ] I don't want to stay here long.

[ York's eyes go wide, not quite sure where he'd overstepped as he hands it back, blinking at her. ]

Hey, uh, it's not the end of the world if you want something, okay? It was just the payment info.






[ ooc | Hey also i'm like next to incoherent, so sleep for me. Night! ]

[ That wasn't even why she was annoyed and she waved the datapad away. ] Whatever. We're not staying here long anyway.

[ He was pretty sure her attitude had to do with him. He didn't mind the arrangements being loose, but she didn't like unknowns. He shook his head slowly. ]

Hey, I want to stick around, sis. I'm glad to have a decent place to sleep tonight.

[agentdork]

Not gonna make you stay, but it'd be nice to see you guys for more than twenty minutes.

[ Not that he thinks she'll be real keen on that, but still. ]

And he's going to let us have the bed? [ Her question was pointed and the answer would affect how long she was willing to stay. ]

[jackoftrumps]

Hey, you can have it to yourself if you want. [ Because yes, he was willing to make that sacrifice to have the chance to visit longer. Seeing York really is raising his spirits. Not that he doesn't love his sister, but traveling under cover without having just ordinary human interaction does take its toll. ]

Yeah, I mean, I don't really care.

[ Hell, if they're okay splitting the bed, he'll take the couch. It's better than the floor, honestly, but if North lets her have the whole bed, he'll take the floor, if needed, too. ]

Then we can stay tonight. [ Any longer and they would be in this place too long. ]

[jackoftrumps]

All right. Good. [ He smiles, pleased, and stands to start shucking off his armor plates. Getting free of that encumbrance would be nice since it didn't happen all the time. Maybe they'd get a chance to use the shower facility later, as well. And since the food order hadn't been put in yet, he doesn't have a problem adding an additional incentive to placate South. ] And, hey, if they have cinnamon rolls on that menu, why don't you put in a couple orders for that, York?

[ Thank Christ. He wasn't looking forward to any kind of arguments, really, so the avoidance of one was a blessing. ]

Yeah, I'll put the order in here, though, since I know this place has it for breakfast. You want me to put in two or three?

[ It's more directed at South, really. ]

[ She looked between the two of them when York asked her that and rolled her eyes. ] I don't know. I'll eat two.

[ And if they were going to be here for a while, her brother had the right idea. She got up to get her armor off since there was no point in wearing it while they ate dinner. ]

[jackoftrumps]

Between three adults? You probably want six. Especially if we're going to have coffee. [ He adds that last part with a chuckle. He's wondering how far York is going to go with this without admitting the cost of it is getting unmanageable. North already plans to force him to accept some cash to make up for it, so he doesn't feel like he's taking advantage. ]

Done and done.

[ York doesn't seem bothered in the slightest, simply putting the order in with the request for Delta to forward it on in the morning, and with that done, he sets the pad aside. It takes them stripping out of armor to realize that maybe he ought to do the same, and he stands, stretching with a muted sigh. ]

How long does it take them to deliver?

[ She moves to some empty corner of the room where she can stack up her equipment as she removes the armor plating. ]

[ He has stacked his armor plates next to the couch, and after stretching, takes his seat again on it. They don't get to take that armor off like this very often. It's kind of weird, how wearing it feels normal, and having it off feels too exposed. It's sad, really. A symptom of the kind of lifestyle they're being forced to live.

He plans to pick up the conversation he and York had been having earlier once they have their dinner in front of them. For now it's enough to have a place to sit comfortably and not worry about being watched. He lets himself slouch down, resting his head on the couch back.]

Dinner oughta be here in fifteen, I'd guess. Far as breakfast goes, I set it to nine. That okay?

[ It gives them time before check-out to eat and then get away just in case. It's a good enough window, he thinks, and shucks the rest of his armor with some fiddling, and finds his way back to the other side of the couch, letting South have the bed for the time being. ]
