[ He and Delta have been on the run for a few years now- long enough for him to get used to it, long enough for him to grow resigned that maybe it's just them, maybe things didn't turn out exactly like he'd wanted. They're still alive, though, and he tells himself that's something. That's something to look forward to. For the longest time, it is. It's just the two of them, just he and Delta and every so often they stop on a planet for a longer period of time, just to get around, meet some people.

Delta insists on it, anymore, after watching York fall into a depressive slump, and he insists on them stopping every so often, on York getting real, human contact, going out to dinner, doing something to take care of himself.

It's how they hear rumors of people passing through the outskirts of town-- purple armor. York takes note of it, has Delta check the radios and the comms once they're holed up in a hotel for the week, and after getting an idea of where they might be, he goes looking, hopeful. ]

Hey, I know it's got to be hard on you, man, you don't have to hide that. I got lucky, that's all.

[ What was her brother thinking having her come to a place like this? It seemed pointless to her and she hoped he had some sort of point to it all. She knocked loudly on the door and kept shifting her gaze down the hall on either side of her. ]

[ York stands first, glad for the interruption, and opens the door, giving her a wider, crooked smile. ]

Hey, kiddo.

[jackoftrumps]

[ It's a good transition, and he shifts on the couch to leave room for one of them to settle beside them if they wished, greeting his sister with a smile. ]

Can you believe this guy?

No, I can't. [ She spoke flatly and was eying York, unsure of how to receive this new development. She slips inside and opts to sit beside her brother. ] Is this the only reason we're here?

Wow, ouch. I missed you too, South.

[ He's clearly not injured, though, barely flinching at the sharp comment as he rolls his eyes and lets her in, locking the door behind her. ]

[jackoftrumps]

[ He smiles, willing his sister to relax and somehow feel good about this situation. ]

Yeah, seems like he's in a generous mood. He invited us to stay, going to cover dinner too, if we want it. Sound good?

[ Theta had winked off his hologram some time ago, with the seriousness of the conversation earlier, but had continued sending small pulses of information to Delta. North registered that Theta was communicating something, but it was moving faster than he could track. Something to the effect that he didn't know how to make South like him, it seemed. North glanced at York with a touch of concern at that, but wasn't going to say anything about it. He'd have to take the time to talk to Theta about it later. He thought Theta was pretty used to his sister's abrasive personality and realized that her reactions had little to do with him. ]

I guess. [ She still didn't trust any of this and was keeping her eyes trained on York. ] He was with her. So how can we trust him?

[ He bristles, almost, just by the way South's abrasive tone mentions Tex. Sure, she hadn't exactly been the shining star of softness and comfort, but she'd done a helluva lot and been pretty damn brave considering everything that happened. ]

Tex wasn't trying to do anything she shouldn't have been. Something we all shoulda been. You can trust me, South.

[jackoftrumps]

[ Which was similar to the message he had given his sister in the time since they'd left, but he hadn't known details. He only knew that York and Tex wouldn't have been doing what they were doing without a good reason. All they had known was that things had fallen apart fast when the frigate crashed and at that point it was better to get out while they could. ]

Why don't we go ahead and order dinner and then York can tell us more about it.

I don't want to talk about it anymore than we already have. [ She removed her helmet so her brother could see the pointed look she was aiming at him right now. ]

Hey, your choice, but you oughta know she wasn't trying to betray anyone, okay.

[ He'll stand by that until he's blue in the face, really. York gives her one more long look, and then sighs, passing the datapad to her first. He'd hoped she may have mellowed out in the last few years, but no such luck, it looks like. ]

[ Even that was saying more than South would want to hear when she was making such a point of shutting it down, North knew that already. He casts a look at York, to let him know to drop it, before easing back against the couch back to see what sort of food is available from the screen as she scrolls through it. There are a lot more choices than they normally have and he chuckles a little. ]

A hot meal sounds so good right now, I don't know how to choose.

[ She chose to ignore York and instead focused on the datapad in front of her. Whether she liked it or not, this was going to be the best they'd eaten in a while and while she wasn't fond of York right now, she wasn't going to turn this down. She selected a nearby restaurant that did takeouts and deliveries and chose a meal with meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and vegetables on the side. She silently passed the pad off to her brother. ]

You got anything you can't decide on, and we can get both and split it.

[ York's not a picky eater in the slightest- picking two meals and then just splitting them is the easiest option, truth be told. He lets North pick, letting him have the reign over the datapad, shrugging. ]

Wherever you order from- hotel or delivery, get me a soda, would you?

[jackoftrumps]

[ He grins and can't resist teasing York for giving him that kind of freedom. ]

You're asking for trouble with that.

[ Two entrees it was. He picked out a pasta dish, and another with grilled steak and peppers, along with two sodas, before passing it off to York so he could enter the payment information. ]

[ She elbowed her brother. ] Add a soda to mine.

Three sodas.

[ York snags the datapad, and glances up at her, curious, before his attention shifts to her. ]

You two want anything else?

[jackoftrumps]

[ He shakes his head, laughing. York is insisting on paying, but North is going to have to slip him some cash later. It just wouldn't be fair otherwise. He nudges his sister with his elbow. ]

What do you think, Lexi, you want some dessert?

[stackingthedeck]

[ She eyed York suspiciously. This was almost too good to be true and she was waiting for the catch. ] What do they have?

[agentdork]

Dunno.

[ He puts in the payment information for them, and shrugs innocently at her look, feigning pure innocence. ]

Hey, it's just dessert, South.

[jackoftrumps]

[ Even if there is a catch North doesn't mind it too much. York was a friend and as such North was willing to help him out if he needs something. For now he's just going to keep trying to smooth everything over between the two. He shrugs as well. ]

We can figure it out later. we've got plenty of food coming for dinner.

Then why did he bother to offer? [ She snapped and was not too pleased with York's attitude. She directed her next words at her brother. ] I don't want to stay here long.

[ York's eyes go wide, not quite sure where he'd overstepped as he hands it back, blinking at her. ]

Hey, uh, it's not the end of the world if you want something, okay? It was just the payment info.

[ That wasn't even why she was annoyed and she waved the datapad away. ] Whatever. We're not staying here long anyway.
